My New Year Prayer

Dear Lord,

I thank you for everything you gave me the past year.

This year, please give me:

- My friend who understands me and always remains my true friend;
- A work to do which has real value, without which my family would be poorer;
- A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
- An understanding heart;
- A sense of humor;
- Time for quiet, silent meditation;
- A feeling of the presence of God;
- The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
- With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.

Forget the past

"I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead."

New Year Wishes

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastroenterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-lift, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.

May New Year's Eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherished friends. May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure much more fulfilling than anything else you might ordinarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them. May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, may the commercials on TV not be louder than the program you have been watching, and may your check book and your budget balance - and include generous amounts for charity.

May you remember to say "I love you" at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdresser or your tennis instructor.

And may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God's love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart.

Happy New Year text message

Fill your life with happiness & bright cheer,
Bring to you joy and prosperity for the whole Year,
And it's my wish for you dear,
To wish you a Very Happy New Year.

A Happy New Year - Recipe

Take twelve fine, full-grown months.

Ensure that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor and hate.

Cleanse them completely from every clinging spite.

Pick off all specks of pettiness and littleness.

In short, see that these months are freed from all the past—have them fresh and clean as when they first came from the great storehouse of Time.

Cut these months into thirty or thirty-one equal parts.

Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time (so many persons spoil the entire lot this way) but prepare one day at a time.

Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work, hope, fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest, prayer, meditation, and one well-selected resolution. Note: Leaving 'rest'out is like leaving the oil out of the salad dressing— don’t do it.

Put in about one teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor.

Hope you will turn 2012 into a wonderful year - one of the best in your life.
