Window Seats

At the airport a woman asked for window seats for both herself and her husband. The airline clerk pointed out that this would prevent them from sitting together - possibly on different rows.

“Sweetie,” the woman replied, “I just spent ten days of so-called vacation in a compact rental car with this man. I know what I’m requesting.”

HP & the DH P2

Last night, we watched the the opening show of Harry Porter and the Deathly Hallows P2.  Our son wanted to watch the opening show on the opening day, at the stroke of midnight where Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord's three remaining Horcruxes.

We bought tickets in advance for the 3D show to be on the safer side. There was a long line for the midnight show and people were dressed up as various characters in the moive.  When asked about the costume to be worn earlier, our son suggested, "Let's dress up as Muggles," and we did so.

Just like any other movie in the series, this one continues the showdown between good and evil. In my opinion, I would have enjoyed the 2D movie over the 3D one, just because there weren't any specific 3D effects worth watching. Stepping out of the movies, we bid final farewell to the Harry Porter series - a childhood epic for many.

Friend And Acquaintance

There is a difference between being an acquaintance and being a friend. An acquaintance is someone whose name you know, who you see every now and then, who you probably have something in common with and who you feel comfortable around.

It's a person that you can invite to your home and share things with. But they are people who you don't share your life with, whose actions sometimes you don't understand because you don't know enough about them.

On the other hand, a friend is someone you love. Not that you are "in love" with them, but you care about them and you think about them when they are not there. The people you are reminded of when you see something they might like, and you know this because you know them so well. They are the people whose pictures you have and whose faces are in your head regardless.

Friends are the people you feel safe around because you know they care about you. They call just to see how you are doing, because a friend doesn't need an excuse. They tell you the truth, the first time, and you do the same. You know that if you have a problem, they are there to listen.

Friends are the people who won't laugh at you or hurt you, and if they do hurt you they try hard to make it up to you. They are the people you love, regardless of whether you realize it.

Friends are the people you cried with when you got rejected from colleges and during the last song at the prom and at graduation. They are the people that when you hug them, you don't think about how long to hug and who's going to be the first one to let go.

Maybe they are the people that hold the rings at your wedding, or maybe they are the people who give you away at your wedding, or maybe they are the people you marry. Maybe they are the people who cry at your wedding because they are happy or because they are proud.

They are the people who stop you from making mistakes and help you when you do. They are are the people whose hand you can hold, or you can hug or give them a kiss and not have it be awkward because they understand the things you do and they love you for them.

They stick with you and stand by you. They hold your hand. They watch you live and you watch them live and you learn from them. Your life is not the same without them.

Early this month, South Korea government made an announcement.

Thick textbooks weighing on students’ shoulders might disappear across South Korea in four years, as the government seeks to convert all paper textbooks into digital versions by 2015, the Education Ministry said.

Two tourist friends were driving through Wisconsin. As they were approaching Oconomowoc, they started arguing about the pronunciation of the town’s name. They argued back and forth until they stopped for lunch.

As they stood at the counter, one tourist asked the employee: “Before we order, could you please settle an argument for us? Would you please pronounce where we are, very slowly?”

The girl leaned over the counter and said, Burrrrrr, gerrrrrr, Kiiiing.”

If God were to appear to you today, and grant you a wish, what would you ask Him?

Before you give out your wish, there is a story in the Bible just like that.  Long time ago, God appeared to King Solomon and said, "Ask whatever you need and I shall give it to you."

King Solomon said, "Wisdom to lead and discernment between good and evil."

God was so pleased with King Solomon that he not only gave him wisdom but also wealth and long life as a bonus.

Wisdom is a deep understanding and realizing of people, things, events or situations, resulting in the ability to choose or act or inspire to consistently produce the optimum results with a minimum of time, energy or thought.

Wisdom is the ability to effectively and efficiently apply perceptions and knowledge and so produce the desired results.

Wisdom is also the comprehension of what is true or right coupled with optimum judgment as to action.

Holy Spirit is the source of wisdom.  Pray to the Holy Spirit to provide you wisdom to understand tough situations and for the strength to act accordingly.  Wisdom allows us to choose the right path, make sound judgement, and learn more about the universe and above all, understand God.  Once you attain wisdom, you will be able to see various things from numerous perspectives - things that others usually fail to see and that's when you will be awed at God's infinite powers.

Asking God for wisdom is a wise request, indeed, for so often with wisdom comes great success and the respect of your friends as well as others.  The world is drawn towards people who posses wisdom. In my everyday prayers to the Holy Spirit, wisdom is the one and only thing I ask for.  With wisdom, everything else follows.

Here is a biblical quote about wisdom:
For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. - Proverbs 8:11.

If God happen to appear to you, ask for wisdom. Pray to the Holy Spirit everyday to provide you with wisdom, and the strength to act accordingly.  It sounds so simple, but it truly is the greatest gift a human being can ever attain.

As Christians, we have heard the term, "Gospel" numerous times.  We probably know that the biblical books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John consititute the 4 Gospels.  Have you ever wondered the meaning of Gospel?

One meaning of Gospel is, 'the teachings of Jesus and the apostles.'

It also means that 'God loves you.'

It originated from god + spell, god (good) + spell (to tell).

God has a purpose for your life, and He wants you to have a meaningful life.  He wants you to experience His love by living our life 'His way' rather than 'our way.' God sent His only son, Jesus Christ into this world to show and teach us 'His way' of living, and 'His love; towards us.

Through Jesus, we can certainly see the right path to lead and the epitome of love. That is the Gospel.
